Linpack Gflops value?

Hey all, been fiddling around with the settings on my E8400 and the speed with which it completes linpack (gflops) seems to vary even if it passes the test.

Sometimes when I change a voltage setting or sometimes even when I haven't can make it vary anywhere between ~25 gflops to as low as 10.

Wondering if anyone else has had this? Tried both intelburntest and linx.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies :)

Don't think its throttling as temps are hitting 70C or slightly under. Also been looking at the cpu throttling monitor in everest though not sure how accurate that is.

Linpack gflops seems pretty arbitrary to me. The same bios settings have achieved 50 and 40 gflops with only a reboot inbetween, though improving ram timings did improve the value.

I'm fairly sure my processor isn't throttling (it's peaking at 60 degrees and has thermal monitor etc turned off) yet it seems variable nonetheless. The gflops value linpack reports is nothing like the one f@h does either.

I'm curious about this, but am currently writing it off as unimportant.

You should get roughly the same GFlop value, it's normal to get minor variations such as +/-0.3GFlops but to get 15GFlops differences there would have to be something else hogging processing cycles or a more sinister hardware problem.

Also you can't really compare GFlop values between different programs because overall performance depends as much upon the efficiency of the software to get the most out of the CPU as it does the actual horsepower of the CPU.

Set linpack to above normal priority and it seems to have helped. Still varying around ~3 gflops but at least not as much as before :p
