Hi all,

I am about to plump for either a 22" or 24" wide screen LCD. Are there any Linux or BSD users out there who can recommend best compatibility and what to avoid!

Thanks in advance :)

Woke up 6am, saw a response... damn! lol Actually, I managed to get a response in IRC yesterday and the Samsung SM 2253LW works just fine.... however out of stock :( Any news when this will be back in?

Pretty much this, it's been an awful long time since you had to bugger about to get your monitor working right on Linux. EDID and all that is supported just fine, even the framebuffer kernel stuff supports EDID now.

Reconfiguring xorg, gdm whatever should not be an issue. As a matter of fact MAC is a unix based system anyway and that works.

I know I can tweak x11 loading certain kernel modules and am probably going to get better than windows users ever will, because windows just does not have that control available to you.

Might I add, today I have been asked to beta test windows 7x which is Vista, without the bloat due to be released September 2009 by Microsoft. I shall make another thread about it after I have everything working.
