Hi Guys

I want to install Linux on a machine built from old parts that I have laying around.

I just want it to play around with and get used to Linux, I have used Linux Live CD's before for diagnostics for friends, family and clients, seeing that is the only experience of Linux I have what distro would you recommend, I see many are using Ubuntu.

I was going to use Fedora Core 2 on a server but this packed up last week.

What should I install KDE, GNOME, Xwindow or something.

Thanks in advance ;)

I will be using it for tinkering around with and getting used to linux, it will be on my network.

The spec isn't 100% but it will be something like:

80gb hard drive
At least 256Mb RAM
At least 800Mhz processor
CD Drive
Floppy Drive
10/100 NIC
Standard Voltage PSU
Integrated VGA and Sound/Mic Ports

Not sure what the motherboard is as it was given to me and it is currently buried in my Study.

Am downloading the Xubuntu tonight through BitTorrent and building the machine tomorrow morning. Will post my results!

Cheers guys!
