Linux doesn't show/install wireless card

Wireless laptop Atheros card. I assume it doesn't have the driver and therefore wont show under ifconfig, I thought I may get a 'can't find driver' message somewhere but I assume it just ignores it if the driver isn't found, and it's a live cd.

What about ifconfig -a ? You may just need to bring it up.

Atheros drivers are very well supported, right at the kernel, so you probably just need to bring the device up as Steveo says.

If you run lspci (or lsusb if you're using a usb device) in terminal, it will spit out what hardware there is. If it doesn't return Atheros in the list, there's a problem. This is my own output;
