Hi all, today is the magic day im going to attack my macbook pro with linux (its been a while and iv been resisting like a sensible person, but I have a little extra free time and it looks fun).

All I want to know is if there is a sensible way to dual boot between osx and linux (havnt chosen a distro yet but ill probably be back on gentoo as its my old faithful). Just very nervous of nuking my osx partition (its got all the good stuff like my music and FM on)

lol yeah its nothing to do with grub in the traditional sense ;) more about how grub handles the efi on my macbook pro (as its bios emulation to get windows to boot but I think that comes from running the bootcamp installer with a windows disc when linux wont get the same results).

Im just seeing if anyone else has given it a bash before I do it as I dont want to do it horribly wrong first time... (and the MBR is useless on the mac, theres a gpart table instead, its new and weird)

Also the cd drive is broken so im planning on doing this once with a gentoo live usb to get it done.
