Linux for PS3

Got a nice 160gb HDD for my PS3 and was going to install Linux for a bit of a play and to see if i can get Mame running on it I hear that the version to go for is Yellow Dog but is it free? The links i keep finding all have prices on them...

Anyone help?

From a cursory look, it appears that Yellow Dog 5 is available for free while they want you to pay for version 6. I don't know if there's a free version of 6 available but, given the Linux marketplace, I'd imagine that someone has built one.

Beyond that Ubuntu 7.10 (PowerPC + PS3), OpenSuSE, and Fedora would all be worthy or your time.
