Hi all, was wondering how you guys find Linux gaming compared to windows?

I play Eve Online and was gonna give Ubuntu a shot on my 2nd rig to compare

anyone did this before?

Thanks for looking- I could have looked on the net but thought id ask actual people and get opinions

It depends entirely on how well the game is supported under wine/cedega with your video drivers. How efficiently the game is written, look for game name + cedega/wine in google to see case by case.

But generally if a game works, it works well but obviously you will need the overhead for wine/cedega layer.

Or indeed if it's a native game...

I always found that the unreal and quake engines ran better in linux (natively rather than using wine) that on windows due to opengl.

Yeah, UT3 was a bit of a let down (no native client... yet...), but still.

@ OP - no idea about eve... sorry, try google.

I run it under Cedega and it works flawlessly... Till you try and close eve and it doesn't reset screen resolution and have to reboot... But that's not too big a problem :D
