I'm not a Linux user, but I know the deal... however, it is clear that not everyone does!

Check out this blog about a school teacher in the US that confiscated Linux distribution disks and is threatening legal action because "No software is free and spreading that misconception is harmful". Furthermore, "This is a world where Windows runs on virtually every computer and putting on a carnival show for an operating system is not helping these children at all."

LOL

Well I'm glad it got reposted, I missed the original.

What a chimp.
I hope he gets sacked.....would YOU want someone teaching your kids who cannot read?
(the GPL is included with all distro's and fairly clear about it being free).
And as for "windows runs on virtually every computer", he needs a lesson in what constitutes a computer methinks....."windows runs on virtually every desktop IBM PC compatible" would be a little more accurate).

Maybe he is just paranoid about licensing. The BSA, RIAA, MPAA, and others do their best to drill the idea of copyright infringement into everyone's brains. Most people think that if they didn't pay for software they've stolen it. I don't ever see ads on TV for the GPL, but I do see them for the BSA. The poor sod might have seen kids passing out CDs, assumed that it was illegal, and didn't want anything to do with it for fear of the software Stasi swooping in and firing him.
