hi all

i am doing my final year project at university this year and i have decided to do it on " the impact linuxs has on 3rd world countries"

i just wanted some ideas in what i could look into as the topic is endless

any ideas will be welcome.
thanks in advanced.

Do you mind me asking what degree you're doing? If it is politics or something of that ilk then this could be really good, but if it is a more science based degree then you may end up straying way off topic...

i am doing a computer network and security degree, i know it already sounds as if i am doing a project which has nothing to do with my degree but i really fed up with the whole course, but as its my last year it be a waste to drop out.

i not really good at programming so thats out the question
after doing 3 years of networking it bores me to death
i only know a few linux command so a linux practical is out of the question

hi all bak again
i be using a lot of secondary reserch for my project and my project supervisor say that i will not get a high mark unless i conduct some of my own primary research. he told me to locate some small organisation that have experience in setting up open source software, i used search engines but they just give a load of rubbish
can anyone give me some ideas ?

I don't see how they would let you do a project based on that topic, it's already been said, but it doesn't sound technical enough.

Are you developing an open source app? Maybe you could customise a Linux distro for use in the third world? (maybe old ground, but still could be interesting, dunno if there is enough it in though)
Even if you don't have much experience programming or with using Linux, part of the project is learning, if you enjoy doing it then you'll pick it up quickly.

If you want to find opensource projects, check http://freshmeat.net/ and http://sourceforge.net. What are you researching though?

my project is creating a personal solution plan from the problem open source software has in developing countries. i chose this project as open source sofware hasnt been a complete success then expected. the main aspect of my project is identify what can be done to make open source software successfull in developing countries.

ps any other ideas are welcome
