Hi all,

Not sure why but but browsing the internet is much slower than in windows. It just seems like it takes quite few seconds longer to resolve the address and display the page.

I use firefox 3 in both windows and ubuntu. I have tried many firefox speed up solutions for firefox but still hasnt made things better.

After failing that I decided to try some other browsers in ubuntu such as opera, same problem.

Its the same on my laptop when using puppy linux, again windows is fine?

Any ideas why its so much slower?

Whats in /etc/resolv.conf

If there is a line with "search", get rid so your left with
nameserver 192.168.1.1 for example

Tried this no improvement, also tried changing nameservers from router to open dns. Maybe a slight improvement then but still not as fast.

What kind of net access? What network card?

Wired!

Network card = Broadcom
Router = Safecom

After trying almost any fix for slow browser speeds on any distro I resolved the problem by changing my router!!

Any ideas why that made the difference?
