hi, am thinking of a new build using older pc components to host a number of hard drives filled with various media for use as a media server for my PS3 to access. Trying to keep my build cheap, i want to consider using something ilike ubuntu or suchlike instead of forking out for a windows licence. now i was just wondering if anyone else has done this or is there any pitfalls to watch out for?

Just wanted to say thanks for the heads up re: mediatomb - I haven't got round to the new build yet (awaiting delivery of a mobo and CPU cooler) but will deffo be looking into this very shortly. I have done a lil research on mediatomb and it looks like it could be just what the doctor ordered!!
