Linux Mint 7 is out

The 64bit build lags behind the 32bit version with this distro.
This sometimes leads to two release announcements in the news.

I have used Linux for a few years now and anyone with a 17" or 19"monitor with a native resolution of 1280 x 1024, is going to be dissapopinted as that resolution is not in the standard ones.
Other than that it is a vast improvement over v6.

Nah I wouldn't say so. If you have an old CRT monitor hooked up via a VGA connector there will be plenty of GNU/Linux support available to anyone via the online community!! Especially since Mint is just an offshoot of Ubuntu. Probably just need to tweak your xorg.conf file I guess...

Yes you can alter the xorg.conf file, (and I did) but to someone new to Linux using the CLI, is hassle that is not welcome.

If Mandriva, PCOS, Fedora & Opene SuSe can do it, why cant Ubuntu/Mint.

Well thought id give it a quick raz, and wow im pretty impressed! (last one couldnt cope with my laptop's graphic card)

Might be my laptop os for a while...

I love the style of linuxmint, I know it's linux for noobs, but I am a noob with linux

I think the fact that it's "Linux for noobs" honestly shows that it's one of the better distributions in terms of usability which is ultimately the one main areas Linux falls down in a general sense. A chain's only as strong as its weakest link and all that. :)

Mint's my favourite distro to be honest. I'll be giving this a go some time next week.
