Linux on PS3 HELP (Its driving me nuts)

Ok my friend lent me his ps3 with the request, "Put linux on it for me please", So i immediatley thought ok ubuntu feistey fawn first choice, downloaded the ps3 version, formatted the hdd, 10gig alotted to other OS, went into kboot booted to ubuntu desktop, tried to install and bang, moment it reaches 19% it freezes and doesnt unfreeze I have heard that this is a big problem but all the people on the ubuntu website keep talking in partitioning terms i dont understand, when it comes to partitioning i dont know a thing.

more info? There's not enough to go on there... e.g. what are the people on the Ubuntu forums telling you?

they keep telling me to end certain processes and then manually partition, but i dont know anything about partitioning and the writing on ubuntu is near illegable due to the HD.

i tried quitting all processes this time it got to 53% and froze

Could you direct us to the URL of the Ubuntu forum thread you are following?

Also, no offence but if you don't understand disk partitioning you probably shouldn't be tinkering with installing Linux on a standalone PC, nevermind a PS3!
Just so you don't end up with a very expensive ornament
