Hello folks :)

I'm looking to delve in to the world of Linux and Python and I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I have an old netbook lying around (one of those little Intel Atom jobbies with a gig of RAM) which I will probably turn into a tinkering machine, but I've also got my eyes on the new Pi 3, another product I know absolutely nothing about, so I don't really know where to start.

First off, will I be able to find drivers for all the bits and bobs on this netbook, or is it better to go with the Pi, which seems to have a massive following?

Secondly, which Linux distro is the best to use (I'm aware of the complexity of this question, just looking for some opinions) for a beginner? I'm assuming I can learn Python on all of them?

I'll probably pop in and ask questions as and when, but as always, help is always appreciated :)

Thanks mynsa.

Funny you should say that... :D

I have Mint, I've tried formatting a USB drive to install it on using Rufus and Universal USB installer and in both cases, it refuses to boot.

No idea what's going on, might try a different USB.
