Hi folks, well it now turns out that Creative have said that they will provide a linux driver for the X-Fi in.... wait for it.... 2nd quarter.... 2007!!

I've had enough of waiting, because I want to dual boot now that ubuntu dapper has been officially released, so can someone recommend a card that works well under xp and linux that is a recent model (EAX1/2 would be good too)?

Expect to see my X-Fi in the MM shortly!

Oh, and I won't be buying any Creative products again - way to lose potential sales Creative - no wonder they're going down the pan...

Under linux I just want stereo, it would be good to have EAX capabilities of some sort in Windows though...
I'd appreciate any advice :)

Ta - looks like a good card - lots of music making possibilities I see. I do have to admit that EAX1/2 would be useful for gaming so I am now leaning a little more towards the M-Audio Revolution 7.1 which appears to be very similarly priced to the 2496 (although of course it has a different set of features)

Thanks for the headsup :)

If I was to go for one of the Revolution series, I'd go for the 5.1 as it sounds better to me (even though it appears to be the same chipset  ).

Also less wires to trip over ;)
