Linux - Vampire the Masquerade : Bloodlines?

Well I don't think it has a linux version so the only way is going to be some kind of Windows emulation.

Good game if you do though.

Not as good as redemption though, which I'm sure the OP would have more success running under said OS.

A little unhelpful I know , but you'd still get your vampire fill.

yeah also remember there is a critical bug inbuilt into bloodlines where you jump onto the boat to after you killed the vampire hunter it would ctd on all versions, so not only would you need to figure out how to get it to work on linux but you would have to work out how to get the patch to install too ;-)

I'm pretty sure I completed the game when it first came out without this patch. :)

Yeah that problem didn't always happen. Plus you didn't necessarily need the patch because there was a workaround through the console.

I've just started playing again for the 9th time through - this time with the newest 2.7 version of the unofficial patch. The plan is to see how far I can get without spending ANY experience points (after character creation)! :D

So far I've just finished the first hub (Santa Monica) without spending even 1exp. I've got something like 40 unspent EXP so far. :D

I reckon I can do at least half of downtown LA before I have to start spending. Ideally I'm hoping to do most, if not all of it though... (malkavians f.t.w tbh)

Edit: The linux request was for a friend. Personally I've been playing this on XP since release.

You've got to be kidding. Redemption has a crap story, crap control system and boring repetitive gameplay. Better than Bloodlines? I hardly think so...

From memory, I'd say the voice acting was average at best. Though it's been a while tbh, so I'll take your word for it. ;)

Whereas Bloodlines has some of the best voice acting I've heard, easily. Along with the Legacy of Kain games perhaps.

Bloodlines has excellent writing. May be a strange thing to mention but it really draws you in, its a witty game!

Some of the best game characters as well IMO!

I'll agree with you.

But not with you. For the serious fans of the original, Bloodlines was a bit of a mockery. I'm not saying it wasn't a good game in its own right, because it was. It just didn't have the same level of character interaction, development or plot as the original. I know its just my opinion , but as someone playing through the original again now I can't understand people saying Bloodlines was better .

I think this is better off in its own thread really.

Bloodlines was the first game to use the HL2 engine wasn't it? If I remember correctly the release was delayed a lot due to the agreement they had that it wouldn't be released until HL2 went retail.

As it was an early game engine version it suffered from a lot of the same bugs but due to the company behind it going bankrupt no more updates were made. :(

Personally I found Bloodlines more enjoyable than Half Life 2. I have still to complete HL2, Bloodlines was done and dusted (pun intended) in the first few weeks I had it on release.

Very much doubt it, maybe just the havok engine.

Nope it did use the source engine. An early version of it, which would explain the bugs, but it is the same engine.

Yeah I was well ****** off at having to wait for HL2 to be released even though Bloodlines was finished long beforehand.

At least it was worth the wait though.

And for the record I'm well into LA now and still havn't spent any exp. :D
The only thing that is a pain are locks. But there is almost always an alternate way of doing things. Which is one of the things that makes this game so enjoyable, and gives it high replay value.

All this talk made me want to play it through for about the 5th time

but it doesn't run under x64 :( poo

I aint reformatting again though lol done it way to many times this week already
