Does anyone here have a Linx 8 tablet? If so what do you think of it? I was thinking of getting a tablet just for some Youtube / general browsing. It is between the Linx 8 which is abuot £89.99 from a huge online retailer or the Tesco Hudl 2. What reason did you guys go for a windows tablet instead of android?

Any suggestions?

No idea as to the Hudl.

I've had my hands on a whole load of Windows tablets recently and the Linx ones are ok but battery life (especially in standby - I think there is a bug where wifi isn't properly sleeping) is so so* and the quality of the screen is a bit less than ideal - surface has a bit more friction to the touch than I'd like and though they are decently sharp the colour accuracy varies hugely from each instance of the same model of the tablet - some are okish others quite dull.

I think with the Linx its a bit of a lottery depending on what components they could source cheap in batch for any given week, they aren't bad but there is a bit of variation to how much ok they are.

EDIT: I can't see myself going back to an Android tablet personally - while Windows is a little lacking in the app department and Windows 8 isn't quite a unified experience from the tablet perspective having access to the full desktop functionality and ability to run any program I can on a desktop is just too valuable.

* I don't think its bad/poor batteries as they hold their charge well when completely off - sub-standard batteries tend to lose their charge noticeably quicker than good ones even when not powering anything.

My mum has a linx 8 and I have a linx 10. They are ok biggest 2 gripes are no 5ghz wireless and battery doesnt do too well but for price they are great and include a years office 365 too. Its quite a jump to the next standard of tablet e.g Dells etc which start around £150 IRRC.
