Linx doesnt load cpu cores.

Downloaded LinX the other night, let it run and passed 20 test's, on the settings below.

Ram usage seems a bit low, im using 6gb of ocz reaper at 7-7-7-24 1T. passed 20 runs. Ive tried running it lately by manually selecting 4096 ram, when it starts the cpu cores dont load at all, my system has been very stable in use, mainly encoding video files theese days, no bsod's, cant game as my gtx 280 is borked.

It says the test was done using 3382mb of ram, and iirc you've got 6gb installed. Was this intentional?

If the cpu usage doesn't increase but it's still generating results, what're you using to indicate cpu load?

Screenshot above jon is from a 20 run pass a few nights ago, cpu load was 100%, and it passed fine. When ive run it since it doesnt load the cores at all, yet ive been doing a lot of video conversion work the last few days (avi to dvd) system is performing extremely well, apart from graphics, running a 7300gt at the min. Was gonna buy an 8800gt in mm but you got in before me mate.

I'm placing bets on file corruption, grab a new copy from the net. Hope this isn't it though, as this suggests your copy of windows or your ram is dodgy. Not sure if this would show up in encoding or not.

What happens if you assign as much ram as possible? I'm using 10.5gb or so out of 12, so you can probably try it with more than 4096. Is there a "maximum" button available?

If i assign all ram in linX jon it still doesnt load the cpu at all now, though ibt with 16 threads and max ram ver 2.4 runs a treat, will download linX again and try it, 8800gt sli, you jammy git lol, makes my current 7300gt seem VERY inadequate. Yep, a few pics of your watercooled setup in the omega would be nice, btw you ever been tempted to cut the floor of the case to fit a bigger rad, say a 120.3?

A couple of generic images:

CPU: (water goes in the wrong hole at present)

GPU: (Drain line taken from here. There's a resistor before the Y splitter, one arm goes to the lian li fan sitting on the card, the other to the rear exhaust. These two fans spin very slowly)

Reservoir/OS hard drive: (fill line ends at the fillport visible)

120mm radiators stacked, in series hydraulically. There's a 240 barely visible in the top panel.

Presently few unsual things. The 120mm radiator set up is a bit unusual but hard to photograph in case, so that one is from a few months ago. The rest taken with no skill whatsoever and a phone camera about an hour ago. I think the only other odd thing is drain line from the gpu, and lining the case with flashing tape. I've lost the cable for the front usb ports, the one hanging out of the 3.5" space is from a previous case.

Reluctant to cut a hole in the base in truth, concerned that it'll lead to excessive dust uptake and weaken the case excessively. The plan if more surface area is needed is to source a pair of 240 or 360 radiators and put them in a box externally, with the same fan arrangement as the 120s have now. I can then put this far from my desk and run some thick tubing and a 12/0V wire to this.

Nice mate, good use of the bottom hdd cage assembly area, ive often seen users remove this section, even on air cooled rigs. Im very fond of the akasa eclipse/omega cases, id be loathed to cut this current one i have for watercooling as its in pristine condition, hence ive been looking at lian li full tower cases, they have good space in the top that would accomodate a 120.3 rad, good hdd space, as im in need of more storage, plus a lot more room for xfire/sli graphics cards. Itake it your stacked rad setup basically offers the same cooling as a standard 240 rad. A guy on the forums here called Troop took an akasa eclipse and stuck a 120.3 rad in the bottom of the case, cut a few hoes in the mobo tray for cable routing, gotta admit its one of the neatest eclipse watercooled rigs ive ever seen.

I'm a bit frustrated with the hard drive area, for ages I had the cage for the external drives in place with no issues but after the last rebuild it was crushing the tubing coming over the radiator and the pump was stalling. Need to rearrange the tubing more intelligently and haven't worked out how to yet. Then I'll be able to get the hard drive off the floor of the case, which would be better. Yep, the 120s stacked are very similar to the 240, but a more convenient shape for the case.

The lian li's with some cutting have potential to be very good indeed. Huge though. There's also a lot to be said for tidy builds, though I stopped caring as much about this when I no longer had to carefully direct airflow at a TRUE. I really like the build with the triple in the base but somehow replicating it doesn't appeal as much as putting the triple in a different box. I want to put the rest of the system under water though, ram and motherboard in particular.

I'm now getting 50.0 gflops under ibt v2.4 having changed to 1200mhz c7. Noticed that choosing 16 threads gets 50% cpu load but 8 threads gets 100%. Or 51.4 gflops at c6. Quite surprised to be be passing ibt at 4ghz, 1200mhz cas6, but pleased.

Also irritated that my UD5 thinks it's unreasonable to try cas5, lowest I can set is 6-5-5. Not sure what to make of that.
Strangely enough after a reboot I'm at 48.5gflops on the same settings that were previously 51.4gflops. Weird, must have missed something.

Cas 6 is nice, strange about the issue with ibt after reboot. My rig seems to have encountered a cold boot issue, was fine last night, but after coming in from work this evening, when i first hit the power button i get nothing but a black screen, hit the reset button and it starts fine. :confused:

Funny, the UD5 is famous for that, not the P6T. Might be a cause for concern if it becomes a frequent occurance.

Cas6 is nice, 1200mhz is a bit crap though. Doesn't seem to be prepared to go to 1600mhz. Passed 30 rounds of ibt, for whatever that means. Think I'll try this as my 24/7 clock for a while and see if it remains stable.

gflops lowering after reboot either means I changed settings and didn't realise, or that ibt is largely making things up as it goes along. Don't know if I mistrust my memory or this program more.

Yep, had a read through the thread in motherboards about ud5 cold booting, seems the latest F9 bios has cured this for a lot of users. Im currently on the stock 0504 bios for my board, though im thinking of flashing to 0006 from the p6t dlx v1 as ive read its more stable, plus it does away with throttling.

EDIT: Seem to have cured my linX issue, linX was running in xp 32 home compatibility,

switched it to vista 64 service pk2, selecting all ram enables 4711mb.

i am so sorry to hear of your problem setter. Surely u can run 4096 memory select because you had 64 bit like mine with 6gb of ram on it as you had the same memory and board as mine. I never had any cold boot problem since replaced new motherboard last year by rich after my old motherboard was faulty by cpu pin header !

Got the memory issue sorted now, i set linX to run under vista 64 compatibility, (had it running on xp home). Also what i thought was a cold boot issue turned out to be a dodgy dvi cable, the cable had a loose connector, hence the black screen on boot, changed to a spare i had and all is ok again.
