Lion + File Vault encrypt home directory only

Hi there,

I only have files that are in my home directory that I want to encrypt. Is there any way I can set File Vault to encrypt only certain folders rather than the whole disk.

The reason being is that any time I delete something that is big, it has to do it securely and it takes ages.

Well if I can't do that....can anyone recommend me some software that will allow me to encrypt a few files and just file up and unlock the files when I need.

It truecrypt good for this?

Yeah, TrueCrypt is what you're looking for.

LOL. Everyone previously complained that Filevault v1 only encrypted the home directory, so they changed it to FDE for v2. You must be the one person that wanted it the other way around!

Is there any way that I can set it up so that when I launch truecrypt, it simply prompts me for the user password, mounts the encrypted file/partition and when i close truecrypt it unmounts it?

EDIT: Hang on, i remember reading that you can do this with inbuilt OSX software, that would be far preferable but I can't find the article.

You can create encrypted DMGs in OS X.

Personally I use an app called Espionage. It's really good.
