Lionel Blair: Veteran TV presenter and dancer dies at 92
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-59171576

Veteran entertainer, TV presenter and dancer Lionel Blair has died aged 92, his agent has said.

Blair, whose stage and screen career spanned eight decades, died early on Thursday morning.

Best known as a team captain on game show Give Us A Clue, in recent years he acted in Ricky Gervais's Extras and also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother.

Another one of the classic entertainers as left this world. I remember growing up as a kid seeing him on all the shows. A regular on many. I specifically remember him being one of the team captains on Give Us A Clue, the other team captained by Una Stubbs (aka Aunt Sally).

At the age of 92, as my grandfather would say "he's had a good innings!".

We don't see many all round entertainers these days.

Genuinely a lovely chap. Saw him a couple of times with one of his sons at a comedy club in London. Can't link it here, but "Lionel Blair - The Distraction Club March 2018" will find it. Not quite what you'd expect from him. :D

And yes, Give us a clue. He was the master at that. Who can ever forget opposing team captain Una Stubbs sitting open mouthed as he tried to pull off Twelve Angry Men in under two minutes! ;) I suspect that ISIHA will drop those round introductions now.

A wonderful entertainer.

R.I.P.

Heard this on the radio this morning. Never realised he was such a ladies man. When he was young he went to stay with Erol Flynn and his wife for a weekend and apparently his wife had a thing for him. Back then almost every woman wanted him.

I honestly thought he was gay until I heard his obituary

RIP Lionel. Another of those faces, voices, and acts which was unavoidable growing up in the 70s. I'm not saying I ever thought "oh great, it's LB!" but he always seemed game for a laugh and was one of those hoofers who'd really earned his performing stripes the hard way, which is why he popped up all over the place.

Someone pointed me at this last night. I pass on the favour...

You and I both, he had that kind of persona, still he was immortalised in rhyming slang by having
a style of strides in the sixties and seventies forever becoming known as Lionels.
