Liquid V CPU - What is the difference

Just a quick question.

I have a Kraken Elite.
In the NZXT Cam software you can set the fan profile to either "CPU" or "Liquid".
I can set a curve in both, no issues.

Generally in liquid mode, the fans run pretty much silently in idle, but then slightly louder full load etc and whilst gaming
In CPU mode, the fans ramp up a fair bit louder when under load, then return to silent after the CPU settles down.

Temps in both modes are the same, pretty much.

Is it best to run the profile in liquid mode, and what are the key differences?

Thanks

Edit: am I right in saying in Liquid mode, you are regulating the temp of the liquid rather than the temp of the CPU ?

Thanks dude.

Had a good mess around today, and made it so the pump is as high as it can go without any noise.. and the fans as high as they'll go without noise ( only once the liquid temps get to 35, which is usually where they are when gaming )

Highest liquid temp I have seen is 38c.
Highest CPU temp whilst gaming is 55c and under full load cinebench just under 69c
