Well it's a bit in the air right now, I have 10 HDD's right now but will be getting rid of the older 1tb in favour for some new WD 3TB Blacks that way i can cut drives down to about 6 or 7, plus 2 5.25 for burner and fan controller, I need Black, door to open to the left, no water cooling will ever be used (soz can't get my old head round water and electric), USB 3 ports x 2 min, easy access to air filters so i can clean more often then i do right now, and as quiet as poss, silent would be cool. I'm no gamer so passive or onboard video is good for me, oh and one last thing a damm HDD light as well.

Right now i have a Fractal Design Define XL v1 which is a perfect except the HDD LED and it's giving out a horrible "whirring" sound, I have replaced everything except the case, first was the cpu fan, still whirring, then case fans were replaced with something costing almost £20 a pop, still whirring then i though it had to be the PSU so got that swapped on warranty, still whirring.
I have disconnected all fans and still whirring, when i push on the case at a certain point the noise stops but i have no idea where it's coming from neither do FD, I was planning on just doing the round of the case manf and seeing what they had to offer.

I'd like to keep it under a £100 but will double that if needed even a bit more if i have too, i have looked at OC own noise dampening stuff but I'd prefer the case to be made quiet from the onset if you get my drift.
in order of wish list it would be
  • Silent/Quiet
  • Door to open to left
  • Room for 8 HDD (all 3.5 for now)
  • HDD must be able to be WELL cooled
  • Easy to clean filters
  • Black
  • Clean simple lines

Don't want much do i?

aselabs do seem nice but WAY over my budget.
EVGA added to my list many thanks.
I'll be looking at Obsidian in the Corsair list.
The R4 does not come with a HDD LED and I'm a little worried about buying Fractal Design as this Define XL I have is making more noise then Concorde (don't worry it's old tech) used to flying overhead, but i will add Nanoexia as well.
Lian Li is already on my list.

OK thanks for your help folks now it's time for me to do some digging and try to find the "perfect" case for me.
