Been playing about with mine today and removed the standard Shuttle cooling.
Basically ive rigged up a Akasa heatsink to a custom made mount [thanks to the lads at Lola where i work] onto the Shuttle cpu mount.

Previous temps were 44c idle and 58c underload. The cpu according to Coretemp is now idling at 33c @ 2.67GHZ.Load Temps are still in the 50s but i have the fan set to only kick in at 55c.

Anyone else modded the cooling[other than water] on a Shuttle?

I'm toying with the idea of fitting an external 80 to 120mm fan convertor on the PS of my SD37P2, and then fitting a quiet 120mm externally.

I'm impressed by your improvements in temps, the ICE unit is supposed to be quite efficient.

The ICE Unit is a good piece of kit tbh although the fan shroud mounted internally mucks up airflow considerably. There is more room in the case now which no doubt contributes to the temp drop.

Would like to see some pictures of your modding to the SD37 when you get it done.
