Listening to the covid inquiry and almost every time there is an expletive it is followed by an apology from the broadcaster. Can they please stop apologising and let us listen to what is being said.

Anyone offended would have switched over already surely, so what is the point of repeating the same apology over and over again? And it's always after repeating an expletive, not a warning beforehand. Considering the nature of the topic being discussed these repeated warnings are just a bit daft is all I am saying.

I read a while ago a lot (if not all) of the EU countries inquisitorial legal systems have completed their covid inquiries. But in our adversarial system the legal gravy train has only just started to roll. It's pretty obvious the government was not prepared and those in power were incapable of making the correct decisions. But will this inquiry prevent a future reoccurrence, not a chance. The same old boys network will rise to the top of political parties and the same government led corruption will vastly inflate any project costs because that is what this country has done for decades.

Listening yesterday I heard the minutes for the meetings were all scripted in advance, so even the official documentation record cannot be trusted.

They talk about collective responsibility, but there is no government responsibility to the people as time after time they get off scot-free when the media cycle moves on. The electorate should have a public body setup to hold members of parliament to account with the ability to personally fine these individuals or collectively, and for particularly severe offences also impose jail terms.

We have media organisations occasionally running fact checking exercises, this should be standard with proper fines and other punishments for those caught actively trying to deceive the public. Perhaps government decisions should be scrutinised by a team of experts with their advice published alongside the government proposal, so the electorate could objectively decide whether it is good for the country or not.

I think some of these 'hindsight whistle blowers' were trying to do something about it at the time, their views are recorded in whatsapp messages, the only real record we seem to have. Helen MacNamara already stated today how much the place was filled with toxic machismo. How many people would put their head above the parapet?

Please lets not stoop to the level of trolling such an important topic.
