Lit Fibre

For info.

Just received an email from Lit stating they are stepping away from the broadband and retail market. They are handing over to Zen Jan/Feb 26 but your current contract etc will stay the same. I only renewed mine for 2 years at the end of September so hope I'm all good now.

Interesting development with Lit...

The Lit Fibre team have decided to step away from the broadband retail market and as a result, we have arranged for your broadband service to be transferred from Lit Fibre to Zen Internet, who will take over billing and customer support for your account. This email is notice of that upcoming change.

Important things to know about the change:

  • Your price stays the same
  • Your contract length stays the same
  • Your service package and terms stay the same
  • Our no in-contract price hikes promise remains in place
  • Your CityFibre fibre connection stays the same (no engineer visit!)
  • There’s no need to change your equipment or WiFi details
Zen will become your broadband provider, but your underlying CityFibre fibre service will not change. We expect your service to transfer between January and February 2026. We’ll keep you in the loop and confirm your exact transfer date in a follow-up message closer to the time. Zen will also be in touch to welcome you to their network.

Lol, we posted at the same time :D

I guess we should be prepared for a significant price hike once our current contracts end, as Zen are described as "an award-winning premium ISP" in the FAQ. My current £25 per month 500MB Lit Service (until August 2027) is priced at £36 per month on the Zen website. I also note they don't provide the same speed up as down, but do give a static IP at no extra cost.

I was an early Zen customer. Broadband was so new I shared a 1/2 kilometre wireless connection with a friend between our houses to split the costs. They were great back then just priced a bit too high to continue using them. My friend couldn't get Zen at his house just like he can't get Lit fibre now. Pity he's not line of sight anymore as I could share the Zen connection again!

Had a look and it does state the upload is the same estimated speed as download, the other number is guaranteed minimum (checked as the high upload was one of main reasons I went with Lit)
Currently paying £5/month for a static IP so hopefully that'll just stop.
My current Lit deal is better than the prices they were advertising when I renewed, just called up (as advised by some here) and threatened to leave unless they almost matched the cheapest provider I'd seen locally :D

Always had a good experience with Lit, and Zen was another that was top of my list anyway, so not a bad result as far as I'm concerned.

Edit: Maybe I can wangle a Fritzbox router out of them too :P
