Hi all posting for a friend

as i said above friend bought a new lap top Toshiba Equium (model A200

4 weeks ago last nite whlile it was closed up some 1 lent on it and has cracked the screen is there any way of just replaceing the top half or getting it fixed? its still works but the crack obscures the visaion in some places

If he doesnt have accidental damage insurance on it, then I suggest phoning Toshiba to find out how much they charge for a replacement screen. Dont think you would be able to repair the screen, it would be quicker to replace the whole top lid.

nearly all screens are interchangeable, source the panel its self from a well known auction and swap it over, just make sure the battery and mains are disconnected

Contact Toshiba to find out how much they can repair it for, if they're willing to do it.

Might be cheaper just to source a panel from the bay and fit it yourself as beermonster suggested.
