Hi Guys,

Starting to piece together a new build but quite seriously am finding the biggest uncertainty and sticking point to be which case to have?!

Can someone help point me in the right direction please? Budget for case is up to £120 ish, needs to be able to handle a high-spec inside with enough room for either water cooling or traditional method (as i've not decided). Needs to be un-plastic and have good build quality and most important, needs to be reasonably quiet if not very quiet!

Would also be a bonus if the case was aesthetically pleasing on the eye too!!!

Any help greatly appreciated.

Are you looking for a extravagent gaming case such as a Thermaltake or a subtle smart case such as a Lian Li?

Akasa Eclipse 62 gets my vote, however the Lian Li PC-7 is a bloody good case for the price also, infact anything from the Lian Li range will do you proud - if you can afford it :P

you already have any ideas? just look around the case section - see what you like the look of and im sure somone here will give you a yay or nay as to build quility etc

good luck

Definately subtle looks rather than extravert...

I do like the look of the Lian-Li PC7+, i take it people's opinions vary but overall the build quality is agreed to be excellent?

Is this case a good option bearing in mind the desire to have a high-end but quiet computer and it shouldn't have problems accomodating water cooling or fan based cooling, whichever way i decide to go?

Thanks

well, the case build quality is awesome, people say these things - and i was always a bit sceptical however, having seen one in real life its second to none. Air cooling (silent) easy peasy. Water cooling now there's something i don't know about in a PC-7, definitely a bit more tricky to install. I'm sure someone will come along and be able to talk about it first hand however i know very little about it im afraid. Bear in mind it has a 120mm exhaust fan so a swiftech watercooling system with the external radiator would be doable - if that's what your after

*hands thread over to more knowledgeable people* hehe

Still in a bit of a quandry, am starting to sway towards the Akasa Eclipse 62 - seems to have nothing but praise thrown upon it, would this be a good choice, for expansion in the future and also an option for either water cooling etc?

Also - the option to buy a side window, does this affect the noise of the machine (ie with the window panel is it louder than without?).

Thanks

Akasa Eclipse 62 - I now have 2!

I love the removal motherboard tray and the 120mm front & rear fan options. Not so keen on the drive bays but they do OK and have space for all my drives!

It looks like it works well with the Swiftech kits (from what I have seen on this forum) - I am keen to go this route too having seen how this might all fit in.

The Lian-Li looks nice (although looks do not bother me) however I have no experience with this case.

If you can afford it, Lian Li V1000B+ II is a beautiful case. If you can't quite stretch that far, then the Akasa Eclipse 62 is the next best thing in my opinion. The build-quality of the Lian Li PC7B+ II is about the same as the Akasa Eclipse (although the Eclipe has a plastic front plate  ), but the V1000B+ II is on a different planet. The metal is at least twice as thick and the retaining mechanism is a work of art. All the Lian Li's have beautifully tasteful design and the wide range of optional extras fit any of the models in the range so you can upgrade them if you went from a PC7B+ II to a V1000B+ II you could just move the drive stealthing plates across.

You'll also easily be able to sell a Lian Li or an Eclipse. Other brands tend to hang around longer on Member's Market but the Akasa and Lian Li's pretty much go immediately.
