Hey guys,

Got my AMD Phenom II 955BE today and my Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 Rev.2

Set it all up in my Asus M4A78 with some 4GB 2x2GB Kingston HyperX DDR2 6400C4 800Mhz RAM.

I've left it at home running AMD Overdrive On Novice Settings.

Was this my best plan ?

I'm not sure if it will give me my best possible clock so i'm thinking of Overclocking in the BIOS.

Any advice or info i should know ?

Thanks

yep. its not just that. i dont know your board but you will need to up the north bridge and south bridge up i little when you hit the wall. google max safe volts and temps for you cpu and mobo

sorry the multiplier should be on its highest anyway. or at least thats what i do. some people do ??? x 9 like on mine and some people do ??? x 8 but the second ??? will be higher cant be bothered working it out but you know what i mean

to be honest dont expect to clock that high them coolers are not the best. you should be able to get at least 500mhz more with ease i would have thought

oh yeah i only just brought it too :(

came recommended from someone on here.

What is another good cooler i've heard of some allowing two fans in push/pull which works quite well can't remember the name tho sadly.

My case at the moment isn't good either but on payday i'm buying a nice Antec 300 and some good fans to help bring the temps down a bit too which will be good ( i hope)

not to sure as im on water. i do no that coolermaster v8 are very good think there about £40 if they still sell them. you will be able to clock really high with that. a water kit going to cost around £150.

but saying that the £40 you spend on a cooler will be like putting that money into a better cpu. my q9550 it 2.8 standard and got it at 4ghz

I looked but didn't really find nothing in BIOS,

I'm at 3.8Ghz now, Ran prime95 for half an hour last night and will do again now.

215Mhz x 18 @ 59 Under 100% load Vcore @ 1.5V

Havn't changed the north or southbridge but if i did could i increase the Mhz or Multi a bit more you think ?

i would not increase the speed it makes it more stable when you get to higher clocks just keep going as you are. a lot of people would say you need to run prime95 for hours and hours i only do 30 if not less. if you carry on doing your normal day to day stuff after that and get lock ups or BSOD then its not stable. the more time you spend testing the less time you get playing.

just keep upping the mhz bit by bit try leaving your vcore that will raise the temps the most.

looking good so far

I would but my motherboard BIOS is in another language i swear.

Seems like nothing is labelled simple.

Have to check the manual later tonight.

But i'm pretty chuffed with an increase of 700Mhz for my first time.

That's an increase of what about 25% ?

lol

i had same board for 2 year (striker 2 extreme) and i new it inside out. now ive got a gigabyte and i cant understand it. got my cpu a 3.7 did have it at 4.1 on other board

Well i've seen how to change the NB Volts so will try that tonight southbridge tho i'm not sure :(

If i raise the NB up Will i be able to up the Mhz a bit more ?

Last night i left it at 217 x 18 @ 1.55v and it crashed after an hour in Prime95

Really wanna hit 3.9Ghz if i can lol
