Little bit worried about returning a motherboard

I have a Gigabyte P55A-UD3 which has capacitors which buzz under full load when the volts are around 1.25-1.4, the buzzing getting more severe as the volts go up, and I sent a couple of webnotes about it and it is indeed a fault. However, I'm very worried it will come back as 'No Fault Found' as it is a problem which only appears under full load, and you have to be in quite a quiet enviroment to hear it AND the volts have to be at a certain level. Also, the noise only really appears after you pass 1.2v when running at stock speeds. Because of this I'm dubious about returning it. Could anyone offer some help/guidance? Possibly someone who works for OCUK testing faulty stuff?

Thanks

Suggest you return it to Gigabyte instead.

Is it actually causing misbehavior, or just an irritating noise? I don't believe you can rma graphics cards for coil whine, so I'm not sure your board is actually faulty.

If the settings are supported by the motherboard then it should be covered.

I would check all the other components as best you can first. It might be worth paying for it's diagnosis, just to rule it out tbh.

I think I've decided not to return it. I just know it's going to come back with no fault found as it's a small noise which only appears in certain, abnormal circumstances and I'll simply be left 20 odd quid out of pocket and without my computer for a few weeks.

It's just a buzzing noise under very heavy load and it's not even that loud. I've been told by a few people it's not going to cause any problems and that it's just an annoying noise that lots of motherboards have and it's a lottery whether you get a quiet motherboard or a noisy one. The noise itself doesn't really annoy me as it's pretty much never there in normal use, even in games.

Think I've made the right choice?

If it aint broke dont fix it? Are you sure the buzz is coming from the mobo and not a bearing on a fan somewhere else on the system?

It's definitely coming from the mobo. When the computer is in place the noise is extremely quiet and obviously under normal circumstances where there's load, such as a game, I wouldn't be able to hear it anyway. It's not the noise that annoys me, it's the thought of imminent failure! And as long as I know it's not going to break because of this, I'm perfectly happy :)

Just get some sound proffing material for your case to hide it for the long term. My cause a bit more heat in the case but worth it to reject noise.
