Is anyone experiencing these random little red swollen areas, like bites but there's no sign of actual bites or insects? I suspect coming from the garden as it seems to be happening when one of us hangs the washing out.

They are mad itchy and end up quite sore and I recall them happening around this time last year. Any forum super sleuths got ideas on what they are and how best to avoid?

yeah, its that start of mosquito season. most likely culprit. you can't see the bites but they give you red swollen lumps

do you go outside wearing shorts and find that this only happens on exposed legs?

I wear trainer socks so the ankles are exposed and it's only the exposed skin that gets the bites. Sounds like this is unavoidable. :(

No medical threads, goto a doctor

No medical advice is being sought here, if I need any potions or lotions I'll talk to the high street chemist.

Thanks for keeping us all on the straight and narrow, we really appreciate the hard work you do, however you can now get back to whatever party you're the life and soul of at the moment.

Might be bed bugs...
How old is your mattress and how often do you change your bed sheets?

I've kinda ruled that out because the bites are restricted to the ankles which have been exposed and it happened around this time last year, too.

Having read the comments, it's looking like mosquito bites and to be honest I didn't even think we had any in the UK other than midges - I've never thought about that before.
