Little graphics card / system problem

Hi there i've emailed overclockers but they haven't helped me really even though i love them.

Basically, i have been using this computer for about a year, i left my computer on for around 2 days when i first got to university then when i got home one night the computer was off. I turned it back on and when i checked smart doctor the graphics card fan had no speed and when i opened my case and looked inside the gfx card fan had stopped spinning so kept eventually overheating.. I RMAd the card which is a '6800 Gt 256 Mb' and overclockers said

"The card passed 12 laps of 3DMark 06 at max settings with the fan spinning throughout. We could not find a fault."

So i'm like oh.. i am currently using my old pci card '9200' in my computer since the 6800 gt keeps overheating and the computer is playing low spec games fine with the 9200 in it. I thought it may be the PSU or something even though it has worked for a year, it is a 350W so i purchased a 570W for around 30 pound but that didn't solve the problem.

I have no clue to what it might be..
It can't be the motherboard can it because the pci card works ?
Or could it be the agp slot ?

Please help me, i have a lan soon.
Thanks in advance.

Check all the connections are made, is there anywhere on the graphics card where the fan plugs in?

Check the plug there is secure.

Can you not try the card in a mates, or family members PC, if the fan is still motionless (which I'm pretty sure it will be) it will rule out your motherboards as the problem.

To be honest though, I would just buy a new heatsink and fan since thats were the problem seems to be, and speaking from first hand experience you can't go wrong with the following (8th down), its very very easy to install.

Arctic Cooling NV5 Rev.3 (6800 Series) VGA Silencer (HS-009-AR) Price: £11.95 (£14.04 Including VAT at 17.5%)

Others may suggest the slightly dearer Accelero X1 Cooler but the above is more than good enough for your card, imo.
