hi guys might aswell start with system spec,
i7 3770k @ 4.1
asus sabertooth z77
asus strix 970
8gb corsair vengence
corsair HX1050
2 random 1tb hdd
1 250gb samsung 850
windows 10
xb271hu monitor

so the problem started when i got my new monitor and new 970 kept having "No Signal" errors after much trial and error i found out that it was the overclock on my monitor causing the issuse turned if off and worked fine.

few weeks later was playing gw2 and all of a sudden "No signal" so restarted pc and pc kept saying "No Signal" usually this would get me back to windows and all would be fine for a while, so tried old monitor still "No Signal", tried 970 in another pc and low and behold "No Signal", so RMA'd GPU fault was found and they replaced it (woop).

finally got new gpu put it in pc and windows 10 wouldn't load ... just kept getting stuck on the spinning circle, formatted pc new install of windows 10 working fine untill it updates its self and installs "Intel 4000HD driver" pc would freeze try to reboot and it goes to black screen and usb mouse/kb are dead, change setting in bios to on board gpu and it works fine windows loads disable "Intel 4000HD driver" in device manager and it works fine with gpu again.

is this issue cause by my new 970 ? cause i really dont want to go through all the hassle of RMA again or could all this just be a coincidence ?

currently running the latest bios for motherboard 2104. it is running fine atm now i have disabled the intel hd4000 in device manager, but i really dont know what caused this to happen in the first place, just hoping that my gpu doesnt have an underlining fault.

i have formatted a few times and each time it did the same thing, also my onboard intel hd400 is detected in gpu-z when i swear i never used to see that before.

Yeah it's disabled now. Yesterday I moved gpu down to slot 2 and got it working by disabling intel hd4000 but could this be a problem with slot 1 as when I installed windows it was in slot 1, dare I change it back to see ? Could the pre rma 970 have damaged it somehow ?

Right so just put gpu back in top slot and it's running fine tested with fur mark and all seems good. Could there be a setting in bios that activated when I had no gpu to make the onboard hd4000 drivers install ? Because I've never had to disable intel hd4000 to get my pc to load up before ? The only setting I found was under system agent configuration - primary display > pcie. Render standby > disabled. I gpu multi monitor > disabled. Nb pcie set to auto. Tempted to reset bios and reinstall windows to see if there is a setting I missed. Many thanks for the help so far guys :).

Right so I tried to uninstall the disabled intel hd4000 drivers both in device manager and programmes but as soon as I do windows just reinstalls them and computer freezes then I have to go in bios enable igpu plug in dp to motherboard boot into windows and then disable it to get it working again. Surly there must be something telling windows "hey u know I want installing right?"

By the looks of it there is no way to actually disable it there is only a way to make it choose pcie instead of igpu. Unless when I had no gpu installed the bios changed a setting somewhere I can't find as I must be blind lol and it just keeps enabling it. Think I will be doing a cmos reset and a fresh install later on today hopefully it works if not I will just leave it disabled in device manager. Many thanks for the help guys !

well that went well ... reset bios and installed windows 10 again and its all fine no stupid intel hd4000 auto install ! :D must have been a setting in bios i missed even though i read the manual to check aswell. just set my oc back and its working fine. many thanks for the help guys :).
