Ok i just know that theres an easy answer to this problem, I know that when you tell me i am going to fell like a right noob:eek:but here goes

Two machines to network. Both running windows xp and zone alarm firewall etc etc.

First machine connected via ethernet cable to Belkin N Wireless Router which in turn is connected to BB modem receiving 4mb Virgin cable.

Second one connected via N Wireless Usb adaptor.

Both can access the internet but no matter what i try including every wizard i cannot get them to see each other, to share printers etc:mad:

Any suggestions

Have you allowed public folder and printer sharing?
or have you set a folder the other can see?

Ie. right mouse button on My Documents, sharing, enable sharing, then give it a name

Then on the other computer
My computer
Tools
Map Network Drive
Browse
then it should see the shared my documents folder?

Disable (or better still, uninstall) Zone Alarm. It'll have a setting to add your machines to its "trusted zone", which will stop it blocking SMB.
Try plugging the machine names (or IPs) into the start, run, dialog. It's far more reliable than any explorer window.

is the wireless dongle belkin as well? If it is, it could be that, they are garbage.

We had a couple in work, that wouldnt connect, then they would, etc etc

/me builds a bonfire and puts belkin on

Edit: Try and connect the machine via a cable and see if it connects

Would i be better just connecting with Two ethernet cables and forget about wireless?
