little help plz

After googling a bit seems the problem is to do with the ATi drivers, which version of ccc are you using?

Try booting into safe mode, use driver sweeper to remove the drivers, boot normally and install different set of drivers you are using

Hey

He is right it does look like some drive issue i wuold try to reinstall driver only not CCC.

Also because prime failed and after doing some research on that cpu i can see you have unlocked you could try turning ACC off in the bios to lock those cores again you may find that it was a defective chip thats why they disabled them and disabling ACC may make it stable.

Should be worth a try

hello,

I have uninstall the driver and put the up 2date drivers on and still nothing!.
I brought this PC like this off someone but added the GFX and PSU and RAM, i would not know what i would be looking for in the bios and what to switch off/on, so some guide on how to do that would be gr8.
Thank you very much
chris

I found what you mean now by ACC, (lol) i went into the bois and disable the UCC feture so now its running at dual core!, all my games are now running fine but crysis!, i got a blue dump screen!, the same what i posted in my early post!.. what does thta mean?, could my GFX be faluty or not?.
Thank you
chris

It's good that re-locking the cores helped, as has been mentioned there are many out there which are simply unlocked X2 5000s. It's likely the guy you bought it off unlocked the extra cores and didn't test them for stability, and from what prime's saying, they don't work very well.

It's worth mentioning that not all drivers for the 5850 are stable, particularly the later ones, so it might be worth rolling back to 10.6 or something (ask around, I know little of ATi). Did you buy the 5850 new? Does it have an overclock on it?

Also, I've just checked up on the motherboard- it claims to support your RAM at its original speed (800MHz), but not its current clock speed (200mhz). Are you sure you got the RAM at the right speed? Do you know how to reconfigure it?

I was going to get hold of the guy and ask him/tell him about this problem and see if he can give me another CPU in the replacement of this one!...
I don't know how to reconfig the ram so a little help would be gr8 for that :).
I will the older driver (10.6) and give them a bash as well.

Thank you very much for ur time and information :)

I've just dome some digging about this blue screen of death thing!. it turns out it's a problem to do with ATI CCC, i've been reading around and its says only install the drivers and not CCC and it will stop/prolong the blue screen of death thing. so i'm going to give that go and let you know!..

If it is the GFX card, i was thinking about taking it back and get a exchange/refund an buy an nviadia gtx 470, would that be the same spec as the 5850?
thanks
chris

UPDATE:
I have uninstalled CCC and drivers and reinstalled just the driver and still got the blue screen of death while playing games and now even when i was on my desktop!, the error what keeps coming up is ATIKMDAG.SYS on the blue screen of death. so could this be my graphic card? now what is doing all this?.

Thanks,
chris

Which catalyst version are you using?

This only happening in crysis?, try other games see if it happens

remove the ccc, keep the driver only installed try it with games. Still happens wonder if that cheap psu is supplying enough juice to the system

Ok, I've now got a new HD 5850 card and the same thing is still happing!.. blue screen of death with the same error message "ATIKMDAG.SYS" on.

The version of CCC i'm running is 2010.0706.2128.36662, its one i got with disk with the graphic card!.

I'm now thing it could be ATI and my mobo don't like each other! (lol) and now thinking about getting the gtx 470 (if that is any good?).

Thanks,
chris

I've seem to have everything running again with out problems :), i went into my bois and found something called "PCIE Spread Spectrum" it was enabled so i've disabled it now and everthing so far is running good :)...

One last question:

After hours of looking on the web for answer i found something what i was bugging me, Do i need to have physx drivers installed even if i have an ATI graphic card?, if so what is the best web site to download them from?.

Thank you every1 for all you time and information you have giving me :),
thanks chris
