Sorry if this isn't the right place but I can't see any where else it fitted.

I have been extremely happy with a pre overclocked bundle I got 2 years ago it was an "*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 4.00GHz / Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard / Corsair 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle" and its been running perfectly since I set it up (although I am fairly sure I have never had it running at 4Ghz though.

Anyway while playing my favourite game and suddenly my computer screen when blue (not BSOD, thats what it does when it looses signal). Anyway I reset my PC thinking it had crashed. It didn't boot up. Fans going full tilt, light on constantly but no BIOS screen, nothing.

There is a debug LED which normally flickers through some numbers really fast but it turns on and says 8.8 constantly. There are a set of lights at the top right of the motherboard which says that it is currently doing max CPU load and after I reset the CMOS I got another 4 LEDs showing between the memory slots and the main power supply for the motherboard labeled 1 (green) 2 (amber) 1 (green) 2 (amber) just above another set of LEDs labelled NB PHASE LEDs which are not lit up at all.

Rig:
*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 4.00GHz / Gigabyte EX58-UD5 Intel X58 Motherboard / Corsair 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz DDR3 Bundle
OCZ ModXStream Pro 700w Silent SLI Certified Modular Power Supply
OCZ Gold 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Triple Channel (OCZ3G1600LV6GK) - (total of 12GBs this is exactly the same memory supplied in the bundle)
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5850 Vapor-X 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Windows 7 x64 SP1

(All but windows was bought here, very happy customer :D)

I'm not running the latest drivers for the graphics card, every time I run an update I do get a BSOD. Although I haven't tried this recently.

Any advice you could give would be really helpful.

Cheers, Matt

Have you tried doing the CMOS reset, there is a button on the rear I/O shield to do this.

Hopefully this will boot the machine and then pop into the BIOS AMD reload the over clock (saved profile).

I have done it already but I will do it again to make sure. Power completely off, disconnected from the mains, hold the button on the back down for a few seconds, power on, and... still nothing

Do you think it would be worth digging my way to the Clear CMOS jumper as well?

You should be fine with just that button, I have the same board and lost count how many times I have accidentally pushed the button!

Try with only one memory module in various slots.

I have tried 3 different modules in each slot individually. Tried with 1 half of the triple channel memory slots and the other half. I even tried it with no memory modules in at all and same results.

Check you power supply connectors and the PSU it self.

Not sure what 88 is. But here is a complete listing of the main BIOS post codes.

Would not be surprised to find your board has gone to silicone heaven. Gigabyte have a 3 year RMA service. Give them a call and see what they can do. They are based in Milton Keynes and have a UK RMA centre. My last RMA with them took three days.

Might be worth posting in the customer forum, and go through ocuk, I think Gigabyte have a uk RMA service.

(But Ocuk can confirm)

Just hit them up on their web site

http://partner.giga-byte.co.uk/

Register and do the on line RMA it was easy and very quick.

Edit: oops that is for dealers

I gave the guys a call and you need to first speak to the vendor you bought the board from. Then they will either do the rest or send you the forum to complete.

Can't help thinking this a problem with the RAM.

Sure ocuk state that adding extra RAM to a overclocked bundle will make it unstable.

Also wasn't the OCZ gold ddr3 Known to be dodgey, seem to remember lots of people having problems with them.

EDIT

"Note - Please note that adding in additional memory to the spare slots will require new BIOS settings and the maximum clock speed attainable may be significantly reduced. OcUK recommend a quality brand PSU for use with all our bundles such as the Corsair TX & HX range. Updating the BIOS on the overclocked bundle range will void the warranty on the overclock. If you update the BIOS we will no longer be able to provide support for configuring and maintaining the CPU overclock."

Freddie that is true to a degree, but the lad seems to think his board is not even over-clocked any more. :)

OP when did you put the extra kit of ram in? And how soon after you put that extra ram in did your motherboard start giving you problems?

Error code 88 just is not consistent with ram issues but you never know until you ask.

"although I am fairly sure I have never had it running at 4Ghz though."

Sorry, after re-reading only just noticed this.

Don't you have to enable a overclocked profile in bios to get the 4Ghz? (but this will be for 6 gig of ram, not 12)

Also volts will be on auto, so ram may be under powered.
