So, the pc has decided to switch itself off now and again and its getting annoying as I cant game..

According to Event Viewer its the dreaded Event 41 (kernel Power) and after this 2 warnings (The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device Root\SIDESHOW\0000.)

Could it possibly be the psu, or ram or something really easy??

Right, updated the audio drivers, still switches off.

Done a ram test 100% ok no probs. Uninstalled Sideshow. Also disabled the HDMI Audio and the Realtek HD Audio and just using the Xfi.

Has just restarted and only errors that appear are for "atksgt service failed to start" & "lirsgt service failed to start"

Psu is a Jeantech 700watt storm.

I can do most things apart from game, as soon as it loads up and i click start *bang* off it goes???

Really stumped

All drivers up to date...

Ive moved it over to my big tele, got the side off, not done anythin else to it, and its playin fine:confused::confused:

Weeeiiirrrdd

Connected via hdmi (also sound) and not as many usb's plugged in (i.e no g19, or usb 2 hub, iPod dock, printer, or external drives (3))

its maybe heat thing then, if it happens when you game but now you got side off its ok its prob gfx card overheating, download and run gpuz and use log to file, put side back on and test it

Card doesnt look dirty or dusty, but i'll take it out and give it a clean to make sure.

Temps look fine. I'm thinking it's your PSU, since Jeantech aren't exactly a highly known company for PSU's. Also you only get crashes or reboots during games right? (so when the PSU has load) it looks like the PSU could be an issue.

Well iva sat at pc since last post and finished sc2 and played bf2 not a problem at all???

Temps have been fine.. psu has been fine, so really confused now. Gonna move it back to table and see if re-occurs:confused:

Sounds like you have one of those really annoying issues that's almost impossible to pinpoint :(

My current system has some serious mood swings & im glad my new bits have arrived so I can break this lot off and sell it for scrap as it were!

To give you an idea, last week the sound decided to switch itself off, for no reason whatsoever. Now when I say the sound switched itself off it did not entirely as the normal windows sounds still worked, but if i clicked the mixer tray it came up with an error saying no mixer devices detected. I rebooted & it worked again but after being on for about an hour I got a win32 error and the sound would go off again

Updated drivers & that did nothing & then I was busy with work for a few days and forgot about it... After that no problems at all, it just cured itself

Anyhoo, these things are sent to try us

Try downloading a graphics card stress tester and see how you get on. I would imagine it has to be either the gfx card or the PSU tbh.
