Fans and cables
500GB HD
Fan controller
Hdmi gpuhttp

I would like.

Intel quad core
4or8 GB Ram corsair dominator
SSD for windows 7
BLACK AND RED mobo (sad I know)

Rig will be for media playing and web

Budget. Less than £500 Inc vat :(

Thanks

DAMO

What do you use it for?

And any reason you want Intel over AMD?

Any reason you want Dominator over XMS3 or Geil?

Watching movies. Online surfing. Excel and word.

I have dual core. But the whole CPU,mobo and ram is really old. So I want to upgrade before it goes pop. Never had an issue with anything though.

Always liked intel. But and is an option.

I like the look of the ram. Unless there is some pretty red ram lol

Im going to go ahead and point out that the components in a computer wont really be seen very often when you actually use it unless you have a windowed case. So i strongly advise not to buy parts on just looks, you could make many mistakes doing that. :)

You do realise that the only black and red mobos are either £200 (massive overkill for your uses) or m-ATX (which will be DWARFED in your massive case.

Decided to sod red and black and go for some really cool blues :p

Massive overkill system as follows:

Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (CTFDDAC128MAG-1G1) £196.99
(£164.16) £196.99

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.20GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £112.79
(£93.99) £112.79

Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AMD 880G (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard £90.89
(£75.74) £90.89

Corsair Dominator 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMD4GX3M2A1600C9) £71.99
(£59.99) £71.99

Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366) £26.53
(£22.11) £26.53

Sub Total : £415.99
VAT is being charged at 20.00% VAT : £85.10
Total : £501.09

Total with VAT @17.5%: £488.79

With the VAT discount this is within budget, but MASSIVE overkill for your uses.

I would spend a lot less, and get this:

OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (OCZSSD2-2VTXE60G) £99.98
(£83.32) £99.98

MSI 870A-G54 AMD 870 (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard £79.64
(£66.37) £79.64

AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 630 2.80GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £76.79
(£63.99) £76.79

Corsair Dominator 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMD4GX3M2A1600C9) £71.99
(£59.99) £71.99

Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366) £26.53
(£22.11) £26.53

Sub Total: £295.78
VAT is being charged at 20.00% VAT : £61.06
Total : £356.84

With the VAT discount this would cost £347.54

Even this is overkill for your uses, you could get away with spending £250 easily :p

I don't game. And I like stuff to look cool lol

Sound like you could do with a mac. :p

And if you were to go with the xms3 as in lemin's post, surely it woud be better to get 2 of the 2x2GB packs which are on special today. So it woud be a smidgen under £72 for 8gb rather than £105 for the same RAM.

Of course you would be using 4 slots instead of 2...but will you ever need to go above 8gb really.

For OPs uses and W7 he doesn't need more than 2GB!
