A mate at work is putting a rs2000 zetec engine into his mk5 fiesta,

He wants to know does he need to send the new engine details of to dvla to get a correct v5 form?

And when it comes to mot time, will there be any issues with the non standard engine or will it be ok as as its fitted ok.

He does need to send the details to the dvla and it may cause issues as it'll need to pass the emmisions tests relevant to the age of the car not the engine.

That's not true at all - the car needs to meet the emissions requirement for either the chassis or the engine WHICHEVER IS OLDEST. I went through this when doing an engine transplant a couple of years ago.

Your friend will have the supply the DVLA with the new engine code and inform them of any changes in engine capacity. Bear in mind that this could change the tax requirements of the car too if the old engine is < 1.6l and the new one is 1.6l or above.
