Little red washers!

These invariably are supplied with motherboards but are never mentioned in the assembly instructions!
Should they be used with the motherboard fixing screws or are they optional?

they are optional but I'd use them as the cusion the tension of the screws

put them on the motherboard screws

they will slightly damped the vibration of the board

I always thought it was best not to use them since a lot of the mounting points on the mobo are grounds and need a good connection to the case or am I just plain wrong (again)?

The motherboard is also grounded thru the black cables going to the PSU, so you could even use a wood case if you wanted too! Basically, use those washers and don't worry about grounding.

I hadn't used them but will do so when I have to remove and fit the board again.

Started my first build last night; fit motherboard I/O shield to case was my first instruction - no ******* I/O shield in the Asus box
