Based on the system requirements, you'd meet the recommended spec if you upgraded to:

- 5600X
- 6700 XT

For the budget of £600, you could also get a 6800 non-XT or 7700 XT, plus the CPU.

Motherboard may require a BIOS update, prior to installing the new CPU.

What motherboard do you have specifically? You should be able to fit something like a 5600 in there.

Ram upgrade might be worthwhile if yours is slower than 3200.

Spend most of your budget on GPU.

Did the OP mean the cpu is an AMD Ryzen 3 3100 or Is there a CPU that is Socket AM3 that is a 3100???

If its the former then i would suggest:
Upgrade CPU to 5800X (Currently about £200
Upgrade GPU to 6700/6800XT
Add an additional 16Gb of memory
I would also probably see if you could squeeze in a 1Tb NVME drive as that does make a difference in the overall experience of the system.
You might also get £25 for the old CPU and £40-50 for the GPU selling second hand which could get a decent nvme drive.

The Ryzen 5700X is frequently available for around £140-150 new, although the price on OCUK seems to have risen?

If you plan of getting avatar pandora seperately, then below id s overbudget, but game comes with it, so subtract that from cost and will be slightly over your top end...the card is 3080 level speed though, 16gb vram and a greatbuyimho..one id be buying out of new crop. have a search though as got down to £479 during BF. Might look at getting cpu 2nd hand also..been a few offered out there as people migrate to am5 platform

am assuming cpu is the ryzen 3 3100 on am4 platform...covering myself end i end up with @mickyflinn on the grovel step

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £676.97 (includes delivery: £7.99)

had a very quick look and seen a buy it now 5600x for £89 or 5700X for £125...the game above is linked to the gpu, so if don't mind going 2nd hand, can afford the gpu and game and be in budget..could even sell the ryzen3 for some cash also to offset

sorry, couldn't add to above..might be limit of size of posts now?

Thanks for the recommendation. She’s already got the game I naively said wait to see if she could run it on low but it just keeps lagging in most scenes / crashing.

Right a couple of questions.

Do you have an SSD /m2 drive and if yes is the game installed on it ?

What resolution is the game being played at ?

sorry i missed the nvme, think its 500gb corsair nvme
1080p
not sure on which one the game is installed on, will message her and wait for her reply.
Game needs to be a nvme really .

Ok so your psu is only 500w so that limits GPU choice unless you replace that but she only gaming at 1080p so a modern GPU will make a big difference.

Keeping your psu My suggestion is to get a 6600xt or 6650xt which is at least twice as powerful and still go with CPU upgrade to a 5600 non x , if you get the 5600x you will need a cooler as well but there are plenty of budget options.

There may be a faster Nvidia version that mite sit well with PSU , I will ask @Tetras and @Craig_d1 and any others to give there opinions on that.

970 gpu - Replace with Saphire AMD Radeon RX7600 Pulse - £248.99 (Includes game but i am assuming code can be sold on)
seagate 2tb hdd - Add 1Tb Crucial P3 Plus - £57
Amd ryzen 3 310O quad core 3.9ghz - Replace with AMD Ryzen 7 5800X - £199 + Cooler (£35 will get a great cooler)
3200mhz 16gb ram ddr4 - Add Additional 16Gb (2x8Gb or replace with 2x16Gb and sell the old stuff) - £50-60
Msi b450 toMohawk max socket am4 ddr4 atx - Update the BIOS to latest prior to fitting the new CPU.
Be quiet 500w psu gold power supply 80+ The PSU should be fine for that setup, i have similar but with a 3060ti FE and under load it barely breaks 300-400w.

Total - £600.. bang on budget and you can sell the old few bits to recover maybe 50-60 quid. Which you could go for a bit better gpu but as others have stated, you may have to curb that due to the psu. The 4060 is only an extra £50 quid but it does trade blows with the RX7600. 4060 is faster, apparently the RX7600 has better texture quality etc so its a toss up.

Hope thats of some help.
