Anyone else do this?

I do all the time, nothing major.

Perfect example:

Get a text message, "Chris will Deliver my parcel after 08:06am"

Wife, "oh what are you waiting for?"

"Remote control car"

Wife, " How much did you spend?"

"£60"

.............£60 my arse lol.

Acceptable behaviour?

I think you have to ask yourself why you are lying? Is it because you shouldn't be spending so much? Most likely.

I do downplay the cost of things i buy, because my wife's a bit of a penny pitcher but we can easily afford stuff. We have plenty of savings.

Probably a bit of both.

£200 isn't going to break the bank, but, it's a lot to spend on what essentially a toy. She wouldn't approve, she wouldn't go nuts either mind you.

I think the difference is if she spend £200 on herself, I wouldn't give a ****, but if I do, will get the, well we've got X T & Z to pay for, if you can pay for that you can pay for this etc.

Everything cost £30 in my household. The wife has just gotten used to it now for the past 13 years. It has become normality. She doesn't even ask. As long as she is treated now and again it's fine. Better ask for forgiveness and all that. :p

This obviously has context. Everything from the children to the household comes first so I will not go and blow £500 on an Xbox series x when the washing machine is broken.

Good point actually, this month I have purchased (myself not gone half) a new washing machine and new microwave.

The former I never use, got her a good Bosch one, 9kg drum. Cost double my RC car.
