I currently run Windows 7 Ultimate but dont want to buy another license. Is there an equivalent in linux which will play live tv through my satellite card?

I have found LinuxMCE but wondered if there were other options.

MythTV is generally the default option, i don't like it myself though, i'm not happy with any Linux TV solution yet.

XBMC is very good however for everything else, i've heard good things about ya-vdr which might be worth a look, i keep meaning to but i haven't gotten around to it.

so install ubuntu then mythtv?

Or use Mythbuntu if you want it simple.

XBMC (PVR branch) + tvheadend is a killer setup in my opinion. You can use any linux distribution as the OS and run this on top. Something like ubuntu would be a nice easy place to start.

XMBC, its got some great features/add ons.

I looked at MythTV around 2/3 years ago and it seemed pretty indepth to get set up properly. That however may of changed by now.
