To see the cars you get, go to www.liveforspeed.net, look for the 'Cars and Tracks' button on the left. There are no custom cars, although this may be possible after the release of S3.

Other Racing games include...

GTR
GTL
rFactor
netKar Pro

But I haven't found any of them to be as enjoyble as LFS.

on S3, is there any info on this?

Not really, apart from "It'll be ready when it's ready".

The plan all along was to have 3 stages, but remember that S2 isn't out of alpha yet.

Don't know about GTL/GTR/NetKar Pro but you definitely can with rFactor.

You start with two cars. A small open wheel car like a GP2 car but smaller and less powerful and another car similar to stock car racing I think.

I've downloaded the GP2 and Renault Megane mods.

Remember rFactor is DESIGNED to be modded. LFS isn't, LFS is to play with what you are give, at the moment at the very least.

rFactor was always designed to be modded. A group of modders called the CTDP are working right now on the F1 2005 mod.

RFactor has loads of add on cars and tracks, if you like new content then its the best racing game, off course some add ons are better than others, but a good few of them are really high quality, such as the Megane Trophy, Porsche Carerra Cup, Lupo's (yeah sounds stupid but great close racing online) and there is a good few others that can waste your time away, plus 100's of tracks :)

There is add on cars/tracks for GTR/GTL as well but the cars seem a little less varied, Netkar Pro I would steer clear of just now, as its only really meant for online racing as it has no AI then its not worth it as the online coding is pretty damn horrible and you will struggle to get any enjoyment out of it, but they are working on it so maybe it will be worth a look in a few more months.

GTR2 is on it's way and is looking quite impressive, to be honest I thought GTR was the best sim ever, really did feel like you were in a race car, but it was a bit dodgy online, if they sort that out then it will be a clear winner IMO.
