Live Mail 2012 alternative

So i see M$ are finishing this soon and you then need to use a web site Outlook which i hate,I prefer having an actual email client.

Why do they even charge for Outlook 2016?..are M$ getting that greedy?..id happily pay £20-25 for it but £109!!!!

I know there are free alternatives to Live mail out there,But are they secure?..what do you guys recommend. :confused:

Mozilla Thunderbird.

I use WLM on my windows 7 PC, where did you hear/read about the enforced usage of outlook? Is this only for hotmail, MSN and outlook addresses?

You can still use Live mail but you'll need to configure it manually to use IMAP. That will be mail only though.

I used to use Windows Live mail 2012 - 3 years ago. Nowadays I use mailbird which is a great client. Very easy to use and no additional baggage.

That looks pretty decent actually,I would still have liked to use Outlooks actual software but no way would i pay what they're asking,its ridiculous.

Use the Windows 10 mail app or thunderbird.

Its not bad as part of an Office 365 subscription if you use all the included features like OneDrive etc

Because Outlook is business-level software, why should it be free?

You haven't mentioned which Windows you are using? W10 has an OK built in mail app. Otherwise Thunderbird is THE go to mail app. Easily as good as Outlook but free.

Im finding my emails are delayed with Thunderbird,Its not as snappy as WLM for receiving mail.

Guess il just stick to the Outlook.com web email as im familiar with its layout and its quick at receiving the mail.

This. I'm sure for the tenner a month or whatever it equates to giving you current Office features and as nightmare said earlier OneDrive storage it actually isnt that bad.

If you dont want to pay I agree with Steve and just use Thunderbird.

Office 365 is a bargain I think for the software you get.

Software as a "service" has actually helped make software affordable for the masses.

Look at the Adobe monthly suites, for those using them for productivity, they are a no brainer.

Can't say I agree that upgrading from my ageing Adobe C3 is a no brainer.
They removed fireworks for a start.

Who on earth uses fireworks these days? No ones forcing you to upgrade by the way, you could always run a virtual machine anyway but there are some software development suites that are long and buried.

Real blast from the past in this thread. I honestly thought everyone who wrote M$ had kinda....you know.....grown up.
"1995 called....they want their joke back....." kinda thing.

Anyway, Office 365 convert myself. I share a subscription with my mum for 365 Home. So we each pay around £32 a year (boxed product rather than online price/renewal).
For that we both get full access to the entire Office suite, obviously including Outlook.
As we get five installations, we've got tablets and laptops covered to. Even if you don't have anyone to share the subscription with - go boxed version and you're looking at the equivalent of £5.30 a month for 5 installations.
Go 365 Personal for a single installation, boxed product again and you're looking at the same as £3.95/month.
