Of course there are always trade-offs, which in this case include releasing Messenger 6.0 without A/V support, and the possibility that when we do get to A/V, we may see it on the LCS side slightly before we see it on the WLM side. (I know, I know, some of you don’t like that order. Hopefully all three team’s schedules will align at the same time but that isn’t a certainty.)

But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Our dev team has made good progress on the audio and video protocol work already, and at this point we feel confident that we’ll be able to stay in sync with the LCS and WLM transitions. And then, yes then, we’ll happily announce a version of Messenger for Mac, with A/V support!

That leads to the next question – "what about AV for the Personal service?" Since we’ve successfully implemented AV for Corporate service, and the AV stack we are using is being adopted right now by Windows Live Messenger, that means we are that much closer to having an AV solution on Personal service. However, we’re not there yet. To ensure compatibility between Windows Live Messenger and Messenger for Mac, we have to wait until Windows Live Messenger completes their transition to the new AV stack before we can deliver this on our end.

I'd like the feature of AV, but can't say I've ever used it.. by the time they implement it, I won't!

Thanks, this makes sense to me. :)

I don't use AV on Live much on PC as the video isn't great but it would be handy if my friend wants to talk to me on Live AV.

Still hasn't fixed the annoying bug of not working on my uni network! :(

Alrite man, you got this section ticked and filled in?

I though you knew me better than that! :D Yeah i'd been playing about with manually setting, automatically selecting... still no luck. Though now i'm not actually at uni (visiting the gf) so can use it fine
