I am looking for a program that I can log MSN LIVE messenger convos with, and have it password protected and possibly remotely viewed.

No MSN Plus and FREE?

Thanks

If you setup an apache server on the machine you want to log, you could use msn plus, log it, then set it to password protect and then save to the folder with the apache in. difficult for just that use i guess..

I know you said no MSN Plus, but it will password protect log files with up to 2048 bit encryption.

Can I ask why no MSN Plus out of interest?

if you know when the kid is on msn, you could install tightvnc server on that pc and hide the system tray icon, you'd never know it's there unless you're actively looking for vnc..

lets you control (or can set it to just 'view') the currect desktop of the pc with the server on

I already do that but I can't be around 24/7.

I said no MSN Plus because it usually entales the use of all the colours and annoying sounds. Found a great keylogger that can log key, events and also MSN. If this doesn't end up working out I might give Plus a try, I've never liked it.

edit - Giving MSN Plus a try, might setup an apatche server later on too or I could just share the log files over Windows Network.

Could you not use the inbuild messenger log except save to a networked folder (on your computer) that there computer only has write access to, thus meaning it can send logs but they cant be taken back? i know its not quite passport protected but it sounds easier (although im not sure if you can save logs to a network location)

That's quite a good idea, don't know how that would work since the compuer would need to write in the first place so that means it could be deleted.

MSN Plus seems to do the job ATM. Thanks guys.

IMHO i think writing the log files to a shared network drive with only write access for that pc would work perfectly, that way the child may not even realise what is going on and you could read the log in private without having to use their pc.

If you're that paranoid your better off just blocking msn, rather than eavesdropping on peoples conversations.
