Live traffic/weather app

What do people use to check routes before setting off e.g. weather/current conditions/in place measures like speed reduction?

Either Google Maps or Waze.

Although if I'm honest I don't really bother unless it's a long trip (100mile+)

I never bother checking the weather. I will be travelling anyway. My satnav will reroute me if there are delays somewhere.
