Liverpool Street Closed!

I request a restructuring of the title of this - as a former resident of Scouseland, I immediately thought that this referred to a street in Liverpool. I have friends there.

"Liverpool Street, London, Closed!" would be more appropriate.

Genuine request.

Snap, well nearly, I still live here :P.

Only in Britain can wind bring an underground transport system to it's knees.
Only half of which is actually underground ;) But it's still typical here, little bit of bad weather and everything stops

I went to Liverpool st after checking the web and not seeing any delays expected (though the actual operators site was down due to being too busy).

Everything for overground was cancelled, walked to Moorgate same story. Had to get on the Northern Line and take a very long detour, only an hour late in though.

I've seen nothing in the weather at all to justify any cancellations, worried about tomorrow morning now

but its not that bad out there, in fact no windy at all.

Are you kidding??!?

Its mental. They closed the embankment by waterloo bridge because a tree fell on a passing car (lots of ambulances / fire engines). The (quite hefty) glass doors of my uni were blown off their hinges by the wind.

I would imagine trees and other debris falling across the tracks of the exposed sections of the underground/overground network has played havoc with the system.

Nothing in the weather? They shut the liverpool street line just north of chelmsford earlier because a tree had fallen onto a power booster and was threatening to push it onto the lines :p The trains might not fall over, but they don't run stuff over too well :)

Yeah its the threat of derailment from a tree. Not sure trains have ABS like cars :p

Was a nightmare journey. Liverpool Street was chaos I got the first train out to Shenfield which terminated at Gidea Park. Was nearly punch ups on the platform with people trying to squeeze in etc. People just get silly and turn into idiots.

Whats everyone doing about tommorow morning? Should have bought my laptop home really and worked from home but it didn't occur to me when I left.

Moorgate overground was closed as well, luckily i just got a house thats within distance of the tube as well, although it was an absolute nightmare getting back.

I got to kings cross and some numpty trying to cram onto a train left his bag behind, and caused the staff to start evacuating the platform, luckily the guy must've alerted staff at the next station because the tube staff got a radio message and took the bag away.

Right morons some people :p but i got home eventually on the picadilly.

Driving to work as normal :D Fortunately the A12 at the point I was using it was fine. Unlike my friend who works in Billericay and had to get to chelmsford. 3 hours. Oops!

Buses were not allowed to go across London Bridge so my 521 dumped me at St Pauls.... walked to London Bridge to find out that London Bridge main line was closed.

Journo's there taking piccies of the Police Officers telling people, one asked my reaction... I gave him the fully worded version of "ffs!" :p Was quite frustrated at this point after a good 20min walk ;) (He took my name and age and asked if he could use it as a quote... I said yes :p)

Got on a rammed tube to Westminister, then got another rammed tube to Victoria (Waterloo mainline also clossed) to find that all the trains were delayed 50mins+

Got in at half 9 in the end.

Wasn't all bad as we just went down the pub till it sorted itself out :)

No problems for me. Although it was a simple Northern Line journey from Moorgate to Angel :P

From what I could see when I walked past (at about 16:45), Liverpool St Station was not closed. The Bishopsgate Exit/Entrance was indeed cordoned off, but the Old Broad Street entrance was open as normal.

There's a London in Canada. And probably more countries. As a frequent traveller, I believe that the following:

"Liverpool Street, London, England, United Kingdom, Closed!"

would be more appropriate.

:p

Yep, Broadgate entrances and old broad street was open but it was certainly closed as NO trains were leaving for a good half an hour. I work near Broadgate and it acts as a wind tunnel between the high buildings and it was near impossible to walk into the wind at lunch time.

Fingers crossed this doesn't happen again tommorow. I left an hour earlier and got in an hour late :(
