Well who else has to do it? I have been on a project 4 hours from home for the past few months now and it involves doing 3 nights away a week. Living out of hotels gets really boring and lonely after a while. Anyone else forced to move with work when the times are hard like the present?

Nope, but I can imagine. After a long day at work it is nice to have a few hours with friends/family before the next day begins, without this it feels like one long work day, although you arn't working you arn't having fun either.

I would consider going out on my own or atleast around the hotel lol but if you have to be up for work that isn;t a good idea either, raid the mini bar and watch a movie as all you can do. :(

It gets similar working nights. when I get home at 8am I don't feel like doing much nor is there anyone to do it with so I go to bed and generally sleep for longer.

I am not the most sociable person but after doing night shifts I do miss it slightly. Ah well only 4 days of pain then 4 days off. Yay.

I had to work away from home for nearly 7 months for a project.

My company paid for a suite in a 5 star hotel all expenses paid. It was tough... but I got by :p

3 days is nothing, you still have loads of time to do what you want the rest of the week.

Many many people work away all week, leaving on a sun night and getting home late on a friday.

I wouldn't say 3 days is nothing. I am away from early monday morning and home late thursday. I do have friday, saturday and sunday to chill although sunday always needs to be early night for rise the next morning. its grand being in nice 5* hotel with all that but its just the lack of something to do that really gets you fed up. Could all be worse though - at least I have a job.

Will be spending a bit of time away in New York (WOOP! Can't wait). Being sent by work, all paid for, will be there from 23rd December til 15th January. Unfortunately I will be working but I get triple time so will be making some nice money whilst having a mini holiday :)

I genuinely can't wait.

I know a guy who works in birmingham, but he earns a packet up there so he's bought a house there as well as in swindon.
Didn't tell his wife for months, "Oh by the way i've bought a house in birmingham" :D

I like being away with work but only because I do it occasionally, going up to Scotland tomorrow with jobs on the way up and way down, long drive but I find the time goes really quickly and as someone said it sort of feels like one day which is a bonus.

Wouldn't want to do it a lot no matter how nice the place I am staying in though, no place like home!

I used to work for Silent Night delivering beds. The base is fairly local to me but I slept in the lorry with the driver from Sunday to Friday in Essex. That was pretty crap, but interesting at the same time.
