Hi Guys,
A job has come up in Enfield Middlesex, as part of the salary package there is a 3 bedroom cottage available. I just wondered if anyone on here lives, or ever has lived in this area, if you have, could you tell me what sort of area it is please?
Thanks

It's alright. Nice park, decent transport links into London, good local shopping options. It's not the nicest part of London but it's far from the worst either.

I was born and raised in Enfield though it's been a long time since I've been back.
Crews Hill is a nice area although the M25 is now quite closeby, that didn't exist when I lived there. Wooded countryside mainly around there, we used to run cross-country around nearby Whitewebbs Park when I was at Enfield Grammar.

If Enfield Middlesex is north London Enfield that I know, it's just a load of houses and not a lot else there. Not much greenery or anything really. I seem to remember there's a massive Toys R Us up there somewhere :p

that depends where are you moving from?

there is enfield town, enfield lock, enfield wash, enfield highway - which enfield are you referring to, they are all pretty close to each other..

You would live there and work where?

What would be your nightmare? Worst case scenario?

I live around 5 miles from there so can tell you everything and anything you need to know hence my questions..

As explained, cottage is at Crews Hill which is a country village north of Enfield really. Not built-up at all there, one of the nicer areas.

I was born and bred in Enfield for 24 years til I moved last year. There are nice parts and bad parts. Crews hill is a nice area and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it. If you had said Edmonton or Ponders End then I would say don't bother.

I would live in Crews Hill now definately.

The job is at crews hill golf club, the cottage I presume is on golf course grounds. (looks to be via google maps anyway) I live in stoke, so I'm pressuming it would be a step in the right direction :p
thanks guys

i used to work in enfield

i found it very nice

there are far worse areas and i think youll find it very nice place to be

its just out far enough that there are nice open spaces and fields and some nice views

good transport links

nice high street

I live in Enfield and like others have said it depends on what part, West Enfield is where it's at ;)

Crews Hill is nice but a bit sparse, you'll need to drive everywhere as there's aren't many shops around, but it's very rural and picturesque and definitely not the worst place you could go.

East Enfield is the part to avoid, particularly Edmonton...Enfield Lock is the more affordable bit but doesn't have as good transport links as West Enfield, i'm 5 minutes bus from the piccadilly line and 2 overground lines which is perfect.

Enfield is a nice place i wouldn't worry about it, the town centre is good with more than enough shops, it's got a large retail park just off the town centre with a big cinema and other large shops like B&Q, Curries, Comet, ToysRus, PC World.

Traffic can be a pain in the busy times but that's only because a lot of people come into the town centre from outlying areas for shopping.

Ugh Enfield... Sorry, I don't think much of it I'm afraid - I have to go there unfortunately, to visit one of our business units there though - however I'm sure it's not in the nicer part. As people who live there have posted above there must be nicer parts of that area. Enfield itself is a bit of a dump IMO. So I'd go to the nicer places as suggested.
